Ongoing Sessions
We offer physics classes for many levels. Students (8th – 12th grade) who are interested in AP Physics and the USA Physics Olympiad with strong math and science backgrounds are encouraged to apply. There are five different levels offered:
AP Physics 1* (Algebra-based)
Condensed AP Calculus BC
USA Physics Olympiad F=ma exam preparation (Calculus-based) and AP Physics C: Mechanics
AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism (Calculus-based)
USAPhO second round exam preparation (Calculus-based)
AP Physics 1 Exam preparation (2 classes only)
*AP Physics 1 is offered twice a year, once in January and once in late July. All other classes are only offered once a year.
1. USAPhO 2nd round Exam Preparation (Online class, open for enrollment now)
June 2 - 16, 2024 & July 28 - Aug 28, 2024 ———— Sundays 4 pm – 7 pm (PST) & Wednesdays (5 pm – 8 pm (PST)
Sept 2024 - March 2025 —Sundays 4 pm – 7 pm (PST)
Runs from June 2024 – March 2025 (no classes from June 17 to July 27, 2024)
Prerequisites: AP Physics C Mechanics & AP Physics C E&M
This class prepares students for the USAPhO exam, the second round of the USA Physics Olympiad. Students who are US Physics Olympiad semi finalists or close to be semi finalists this year in 2024, and have learned or are learning AP Physics C are encouraged to apply. Students with Calculus BC who would like to learn Thermodynamics, Optics, and Modern Physics may also join early parts of the class. Current students in Dr. Tang's AP Physics C E&M class are qualified to join the class.
3. USA Physics Olympiad F=ma Exam Preparation/C Mechanics : Calculus-based (Online class, open for enrollment in April 2024)
Session1: Saturdays 4 pm – 7 pm (PST) *** open for enrollment
Session 2: Sundays 9 am – 12 pm (PST) *** Full
Runs from July 27, 2024 – January 2025, students will choose to attend either session 1 or session 2

The class prepares students for the USA Physics Olympiad F=ma exam and the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam.
Prerequisites: AP Physics 1 (Must taken from Tang Academy) and Calculus BC (Required to pass a test if not taken from Tang Academy).

This class prepares students for the AP Physics 1 exam and covers all content required by College Board. It is a prerequisite for the F=ma preparatory classes. Students (8th – 10th graders) who are interested in AP Physics and the US Physics Olympiad with strong math and science backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Prerequisite: Geometry & Algebra II.
1. AP Physics 1(Online class, open for enrollment in October 2024)
Friday 4:30 - 7:30 pm (first 6 classes) & Sundays 9 am - 12 pm (rest of 19 classes)

Runs from January 3rd, 2025 – June 8th, 2025

This class prepares students for the AP Physics 1 exam and covers all content required by College Board. It is a prerequisite for the F=ma preparatory classes. 3. Condensed AP Calculus BC class (Online class, open for enrollment in November 2024)

9 am – 12 pm (PST)
Runs from February 8th, 2025 – May 31st, 2025
(17 classes total)
This class focuses on limits, differentiation, integration, as well as applications of these concepts. It is the prerequisite for Dr. Tang’s USA Physics Olympiad F=ma Exam Calculus-based preparation class, AP Physics C E&M class, and USAPhO 2nd round preparation class..
Prerequisites: Pre-calculus or Algebra II AND at least AP Physics 1 from Tang Academy.
2. AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism (Online class, Open for enrollment in November 2024)
Saturdays
4 pm – 7 pm (PST)
Runs from February 2025 – May 2025
(16 classes total)
This class prepares students for the AP Physics C E&M Exam and covers all content required by the College Board. Students will be ready for the Exam on May 15, 2025.
Prerequisites: both AP Physics 1 and Calculus BC or AP Physics C Mechanics
4. AP Physics 1 Exam preparation class (Online class, Open for enrollment in February 2025)
Date: April 2025
(2 classes total)
This class prepares students for the AP Physics 1 exam in May 2023. For each session, Dr. Tang will have a standard multiple choice questions for students to practice in class, and then work on a set of free-response practice questions in class, focusing on areas with which students typically have difficulty such as experiment related and other reasoning problems.
